Holiday Schedule: When is Trash Pick-Up in Nashua?

During the holiday weeks of Christmas and New Years, the Solid Waste Department will be open on Mondays, December 24 and December 31. The normal collection schedule will be followed for the Monday curbside pickup routes, and the Four Hills Landfill / Nashua Recycling Center will be open the usual hours, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Solid Waste Department will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; operations will resume on Wednesday of each week. The curbside collections will be one day late for the Tuesday through Friday routes, with Tuesday routes picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday routes on Thursday, Thursday routes on Friday and the Friday neighborhoods will be picked up on Saturday.
Extra holiday trash

All containers must be at curbside by 6:45 a.m. on collection day, and there must be at least three feet between the trash cart and anything else.

During the week between Christmas and New Year’s, the Solid Waste Department will pick up any extra holiday trash that doesn’t fit into the trash carts. The trash must be in bags or barrels, and must be placed at least three feet from the cart. This collection is limited to excess holiday household trash, and does not include bulky items or household cleanouts. The extra trash pickup will run from Wednesday December 26 through Monday December 31.

Residents should remember to recycle cardboard, both gift boxes and corrugated boxes. In addition, most wrapping paper can be put into the recycling bin; however, foil papers are not accepted. Extra bins – but not barrels - for recyclables may be used and will be picked up on the regular scheduled collection week. Cardboard must be flattened and cut down to a size not to exceed 30” x 30”.
Weather permitting, Christmas trees will be picked up at curbside for two weeks, starting on Monday, January 7 through Friday January 18. Tree stands and ornaments must be removed. Trees should not be put into plastic bags, and will not be picked up if stuck in ice or snow, or if placed on top of a snow bank. Trees should be placed at curbside by 6:45 a.m. on the regular collection day during this two-week period.

Happy Holidays from the Solid Waste Department.
