5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 6

We got your five things right here.

1. Jobs Action Figure Coming to a Toy Store Near You? Ok, first? This is one of the most realistic action figures we've seen. Second? A Steve Jobs action figure? Really? Because your kids like to reenact his product launch press gatherings? And third, Apple is not terribly down with this 12-inch doll made by In Icons, which is set to start shipping in February, so despite the buzz – and demand – you may never get to change Steve Jobs' tiny little sneakers, after all.

2. Nook Books: In a tough economy, businesses continue to make tough decisions. Right now Barnes & Noble is weighing the future, including whether to separate its thriving Nook sales side of the business from the book store model. Would you even miss the traditional book store model? Is this a travesty in the works? Discuss, please.

3. Making it Work, Again: If you've ever watched "Project Runway," you may be excited about this spin-off show which brings together several almost-winners, for a second chance at fame and fortune. If you caught last night's premiere of "Project Runway Allstars," please let us know what you thought (because we missed it.)

4. Monkey Business:  Lab monkeys Roku and Hex (the number six in Japanese and Greek) were born in a laboratory with genes extracted from as many as six different embryos. They are the world's first chimera monkeys, and are part of a long term stem cell research project at the  National Primate Research Centre in Oregon.

5. This is Your Brain on Mid-life: Good News/Bad News situation here: Good news is: Dementia can be prevented by a healthy lifestyle. Bad news: It's all downhill after 45. Turns out the brain begins to decline much earlier than previously thought – memory, reasoning and comprehension skills can deteriorate from the age of 45. The international study of 7,000 men and women over a 10-year period, published online by the British Medical Journal challenges previous research that suggests the brain's cognitive decline begins at 60.
