5 Things You Need to know Today: Sept. 8

GOP front runners are dapper dressers, Lyndon Larouche is celebrating not running for president this year, and we are apparently running out of astronauts and fish, all of which may drive me to drink -- for my health.

1. Sort of Like Politcal Ken Dolls: If you have yet to engage in the GOP Primary process, here's a highlight from last night's debate: Mitt Romney and Rick Perry wore matching outfits. 2. Light 'em if you've got 'em (birthday candles, of course): Happy Birthday to Scotch Magic Tape, which hit the shelves 81 years ago today; Star Trek, which premiered 45 years ago today; and perennial Presidential candidate Lyndon Larouche, who is 89 today.

3. Ground control to Major Tom: Mamas, let your babies grow up to be space cowboys -- because NASA is running out of astronauts and there may not be a next generation of U.S. explorers to man the International Space Station.

4. Ixnay on the ishingfay: This just in: There are not plenty of fish in the sea, after all. The Washington Post reports on a study by a team of international marine scientists from the Marine Conservation Institute that says the current practice of deep sea fishing is depleting certain species of fish faster than they can replenish themselves.

5. I'll drink to that: This Harvard research result will go viral faster than the Real Housewives on a Cabo bender, guaranteed: "Middle-aged women who drink alcohol in moderation have a better chance than nondrinkers of staying healthy as they age, especially if they spread out their consumption over most days of the week.
