Ayotte Withdraws SOPA/PIPA Support

NH senator withdraws her co-sponsorship of Protect IP bill.

U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) has withdrawn her co-sponsorship of the Protect IP Act, the Senate cousin of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). In a statement tonight, she said,

"America's innovators and consumers need to be protected from the very real problem of online piracy. However, the overwhelming input I've received from New Hampshire citizens makes it clear there are many legitimate concerns that deserve further consideration before Congress moves forward on this legislation."

See that? If enough people speak out, even the most blatant GOP corporate shill can be swayed. Good job everyone!

How pathetic that when a Senator does the right thing that David Victory turns it into a partisan slam.

How pathetic that Seamus can't see the issue for what it is - the recording industry lobbying block couldn't overcome the real needs and desires of the citizens. And yes, Kelly is a fully fledged GOP corporate shill.

Jan Schmidt: So, Ayotte is a corporate shill that opposes SOPA while Jean Shaheen supports SOPA and she is another Democrat working for the common people?

And all it took to convince her was a virtual near shutdown of the internet! She's a regular Einstein.

Bass has stated he will vote against the bill. Shaheen supports it. I guess she is not as intelligent as her counterparts...

"...legitimate concerns that deserve further consideration"!!!! Consider this Kelly! SOPA/PIPA would give the government regulatory power over the internet, and after compiling data for 5 years on which sites the public is frequenting, they will know exactly what to "regulate". Is this legitimate enough for you?

She's as lightweight as they come. Didn't she vote against aid to her own state after Hurricane Irene? Nice going NH.
