Candidate Bio: Jan Schmidt for Democratic State Rep

Meet Democrat Jan Schmidt, who is running for State Rep in Ward 1, District 28.

Name: Jan Schmidt

Age: 59

Your background: I grew up in rural upstate New York,  and have been a resident of New Hampshire for 35 years, 16 of those in Nashua.

Education: Associate's in Business from Hesser / Training in Web Development online through Northeastern University.

Work Experience/Occupation: Owner of The Web Fixers since 2000. Prior to opening my business I worked at Digital Equipment Corporation for 12 years.

Prior elected office: None

Personal: Married to Atlant Schmidt, mother of two adult daughters and grandmother of two wonderful boys; volunteer tutor at the Adult Learning Center. Love children, reading, and travel.

Priorities for Nashua and NH: To help rebuild New Hampshire’s middle class, the economic engine of our society, while balancing NH’s responsibilities to all our citizens.

Why are you running? Our current legislature, while elected to work on getting our economy moving again, has instead spent their time and our money on social issues having little and often nothing to do with Nashua and New Hampshire. Instead of wasting time on out-of-state bills written by outsiders, its time we bring the focus back home to Nashua, and NH.

I’m running to help restore the civility and focus the State House must maintain so that, instead of being fodder for nationwide mockery, our state's government can once again function for the good of it's citizens.
