Conrad Honored as 'Outstanding Educator'

Award handed out May 8 during Rivier College annual reception.

NASHUA, NH - Nashua Schools Superintendent Mark Conrad was recognized recently by Rivier College as the 2012 recipient of the school's Outstanding Educator of the Year Award at the Annual Graduate Internship Reception, held May 8 at the college.

The Rivier College Sr. Mary Jane Benoit, p.m. Outstanding Educator of the Year Award was established in 2001 to recognize individuals who bring the highest distinction to themselves and their communities through their teaching and mentoring of students in education and/or mental health.

The award was presented to Conrad by Dr. Mary McNeil, Education Division Chairperson at Rivier College.

“The only way out of poverty – to live a fulfilling life – is through education,” said Conrad following his acceptance of the award.

Conrad received his Bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and completed Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Social Work at Columbia University. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of New Hampshire. He has spent the last 20 years in public education, serving as Business Administrator at the Nashua School District from 1996 to 2006, then as Chief Financial Officer of the Bedford School District before returning to Nashua as Superintendent of Schools in July 2009.

Candidates for the Outstanding Educator of the Year Award must instill in their students a desire to learn and achieve, recognize and encourage students’ talents, and help students to develop to their greatest potential.
