Could NH Primary Win be Written in the Stars?

Leadership qualities abound in this election cycle's slate of candidates. But only – Ron Paul – has a cosmic edge.

There's a certain ratio of shoe leather-to-glad-handing that candidates must expend while campaigning to win the hearts and minds of New Hampshire's notoriously savvy voters.

The rest is written in the stars, according to those who believe it takes some favorable astrology to succeed in life – and in this case, to win the Jan. 10 New Hampshire Primary.

Portsmouth astrologer Dorothy Morgan, longtime student of the planetary push and pull, believes it comes down to a matter of fate – or more precisely, one's destiny as mapped out by the cosmic forces of the heavens.

She said the vague and general predictions of daily horoscopes are misleading. True astrology, when looked at based on accurate, individual information, is actually extremely specific and can ultimately be used as a road map for life.

Or, as Morgan summarizes astrology at the top of her website:

"Astrology is a beautiful scientific tool that, when used with knowledge, skill and intuition, can lead you along your life path with a sense of clarity, purpose and a renewed sense of hope and optimism."

Beyond our fascination with the final outcome of this roller coaster of a New Hampshire Primary, there's the cosmic anticipation building over the year 2012 (thank you, Sun-worshipping Mayans and your abrupt end-of-time star-driven calendar).

Which is why we thought it might be fun, if not instructive, to take a look at what the stars say about the New Hampshire Primary.

While it doesn't rise to the level of doomsday prophecy, some might regard the outcome of our First-in-the-Nation Primary to be just as pivotal as the end of the world as we know it, politically speaking.

And one more thing: Before you discount this as a bunch of hooey, remember that every current GOP candidate's hero, President Ronald Reagan, was totally into astrology – and even consulted regularly with a White House astrologer.

Could following the stars have been Reagan's real key to Presidential success?

Anyway, without hesitation, Morgan agreed to do a cursory blind read of the heavens for the corresponding GOP candidates, using only their birth dates and birth places, and noted some interesting astrological trends for the nine top contenders, known to her only as "Nos. 1 through 9:"

  1. Mitt Romney (Pisces)  March 12, 1947
  2. Newt Gingrich (Gemini) June 17, 1943
  3. Ron Paul (Leo) Aug. 20, 1935
  4. Rick Santorum (Taurus) May 10, 1958
  5. Jon Huntsman (Aries) March 26, 1960
  6. Michele Bachmann (Aries) April 6, 1956
  7. Rick Perry (Pisces) March 4, 1960
  8. Buddy Roemer (Libra) Oct. 4, 1943
  9. Fred Karger (Aquarius) Jan. 31, 1950

Morgan had one disclaimer.

"To be done right, we should have the birth times," Morgan said, adding that without that critical information, she had to base the following predictions on where the planets were at noon on each of the candidate's birth dates.

"Without knowing the exact time of their birth, it's a little harder to say with certainty what will happen here, but there was one candidate in particular who had the best-looking chart, without question," Morgan said. "No. 3."

Aka, Ron Paul.

"No. 3 has the best-looking chart to win New Hampshire on Jan. 10. He or she has done the hard work to win. That chart is the strongest," Morgan said.

Her very next observation was that No. 6, Michele Bachmann, "is a definite no."

"And No. 9 (Fred Karger), is totally out of the game. There are very few aspects; it's like that person isn't going to be visible," Morgan said.

She then went back to No. 1, Mitt Romney.

"I see some small issues here, but whatever the issues are this person can get through them. This chart looks OK. It looks like this person will be in the top three in New Hampshire," Morgan said.

Moving on to No. 2, Newt Gingrich, Morgan said she did not get positive vibes. "No. 2 is a no. That one won't get close to the top. There are too many stresses in that person's chart," Morgan said.

"Now, No. 4 (Rick Santorum) is similar to No. 1. It's looking OK, and he'll probably make the top three in New Hampshire," Morgan said.

However, the outlook for Jon Huntsman, No. 5, was not so positive.

"There are too many tough aspects in that chart. It's an absolute no; this one won't make the top three here," Morgan said.

Morgan then returned briefly to Bachmann, No. 6, to explain what it was about her chart that didn't compute.

"There are too many squares here – astrology involves mathematical and geometric aspects, and the geometry of this chart tells me there are too many obstacles in the way," Morgan said. "With all these charts I looked at how Saturn is affecting them, because Saturn rewards us for our good work. For No. 6,  energetically for Jan. 10, the obstacles indicate that candidate is just not visible here, or didn't do enough to be noticed."

Candidate No. 7 was Rick Perry, whose chart confused Morgan a little.

"There's such a lack of movement here; I don't understand what's going on in this person's chart. If this is somebody who has already run, if we've seen this person before, there is a slight chance they could make it near the top. But if they are not well known, like a Romney, they won't get too far. This person has some nice energy, and probably looks nice, but there's a lack of vitality and energy. This person, despite being a good package, was unable to pick up steam here," Morgan said.

Buddy Roemer was candidate No. 8.

"There's too much energy saying 'no' around this one. This person probably doesn't have the whole package; there's no energy, no support behind this person at all. They don't have what they need. As a Libra, this one would need to have a good team or balance, and he or she just doesn't have that," Morgan said.

Bringing us back to No. 9, Fred Karger.

"As I said, it's like this person doesn't exist on that day. I don't know how else to put it," Morgan said.

Now for the New Hampshire surprise. We threw in one additional birth date for Morgan to weigh – August 4, 1961, President Obama.

"For No. 10, there are too many obstacles in the way to make it out of the gate. People aren't believing his message," said Morgan. Then, she admitted that No. 10 was the one birth date she recognized from the field, because she'd analyzed his chart before.

"Of course, Obama isn't running on Jan. 10, and that was specifically what I was looking at. But at the same time, it doesn't look like he's going to get re-elected, based on how things look right now. I have seen other astrologers saying he will win in November," Morgan said. "Maybe once we have the Republican nominee we can take a look at what's in store for them on November 6."

Morgan's final answer: New Hampshire will give the green light to: Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum.
