Police said the car had been traveling east on Searles Road and veered off the right shoulder, crashing into a tree about 200 feet before the intersection.

Both were cut from the wreckage by Nashua fire crews.

The woman, identified only as a 55-year-old female, was the passenger in the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. The driver, a 47-year-old male, was initially taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center before being transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition.

Police said notification to family members of the two people involved in the crash were made, and so their identities were not released.

Nashua Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit is furthering the investigation.
