FBI Make Arrest in Decades Old Murder Case
After 20 years on the run, Steve Kamberidis, convicted of murdering his 2-year-old step-son, has been found.
NASHUA, NH -- The FBI has found their man after 20 years on the lam—Steve Kamberidis, convicted of murder in 1991 in the beating death of his 2-year-old stepson James Chartier in Nashua, will be brought to justice, said Special Supervisory FBI Agent Kieran Ramsey.
"We've come to a positive resolution in this case. It's far more complicated than just an arrest. It has global implications," Ramsay said.
WCVB is reporting the arrest was made in Greece.

In 1989 Kamberidis was charged in the beating death of his stepson, but then disappeared the night before the jury returned a guilty verdict.
"Fast forward to today, and the involvement of the FBI," Ramsay said.

Details of the arrest and other information to fill in the gap of two decades will be provided during a joint press conference at Nashua Police headquarters on May 10, Ramsay said.
The case was a high-profile one for the community, which is recapped in Friday's Nashua Telegraph, including the terms of Kamberidis' bail and reaction to the news of his capture in Greece from Daniel Chartier, uncle of the 2-year-old victim.
