First Doctoral Graduate at Rivier University

Dissertation signing today for Audrey Green Rogers, who in May received her Doctorate in Education from Rivier.

NASHUA - Rivier University held a dissertation signing on Sept. 7 with Rivier’s first doctoral graduate, Audrey Green Rogers,  of Merrimack, who earned her Doctorate of Education in Leadership and Learning from Rivier. Bound copies of Rogers’ dissertation were signed by members of the Dissertation Committee.

In attendance at the signing were Sister Paula Marie Buley, IHM, Rivier’s president; Dr. William Farrell, former Rivier president; Dr. John Gleason, Interim Dean of Education and Director of Doctoral Program in Education; and Sister Therese Larochelle, pm, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“Aside from commencement, this is the most exciting day for me,” said Dr. Gleason. “This is a lot of hard work coming to fruition.”

“Rivier has been such a special place,” said Rogers. “I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather say I earned my doctoral degree.

According to an official biography of Rogers, she is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at Southern New Hampshire University. She teaches courses in educational technology, literacy, secondary methods, and history. A local and national presenter, she authored Jackdaw Primary Source Kits, Cooperative Learning Basics, and numerous articles. She taught high school, was lead scholar for the web-based curriculum at the Fort at No. 4/Living History Museum and directed a grant from the Education Commission of States on increasing civic engagement in New Hampshire. She is a past president of the New Hampshire Council for Social Studies.

Rivier University’s Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) provides educators with an understanding of the social, cultural, economic, and political influences and forces in society that affect education. Rivier's doctoral program seeks to prepare leaders who anticipate the need for effective policies, practices, and interventions based on current research to promote and enhance leadership in learning and teaching.
