Petitions Delivered to AG Target O'Keefe, Voter Fraud

Pressure is on for NH AG to investigate 'Project Veritas' leader and undercover video shoot.

A coalition of organizations is urging the state Attorney General to investigate right-wing activist James O'Keefe, saying his undercover footage shot during the January Primary at various polling sites violates state and federal election law.

People For the American Way, Daily Kos and Granite State Progress on Thursday delivered 109,931 petitions to New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney urging him to investigate O'Keefe on voter fraud charges.

O'Keefe, who heads Project Veritas, sent undercover operatives to polls in Nashua, Bedford and other towns who secretly filmed themselves requesting ballots under the names of recently deceased voters.

The video is posted on the group's website under the heading "Primary of the Living Dead" [and also posted here.]

While O’Keefe's point was to convince Americans that voter fraud is a problem, these groups believe he may have committed fraud himself, and their allegations are backed up by several state election officials, including Nashua City Clerk Paul Bergeron, who said when the filmmakers crossed state lines to request ballots belonging to someone else, and record the undercover video, they broke the law.

"It's against the law to steal, so if you go out and steal and then put up a video and say, 'Look, I stole something,' that's a crime. What these people did was a crime; they stole a person's identity and used it to try to obtain a ballot that would be used in a state election," Bergeron told Nashua Patch in January.

O’Keefe is not deterred, and recently told the Concord Monitor he plans to conduct similar operations in other states.

The petitions urge Delaney and U.S. Attorney John Kacavas to thoroughly investigate O’Keefe and enforce the state and federal laws that prevent and punish voter fraud while allowing eligible Americans to cast their ballots.

“Right-wing activists like James O’Keefe desperately want to convince American voters that widespread voter fraud threatens our elections, just so that they can pass restrictive laws that keep eligible Americans from casting ballots,” said Diallo Brooks, Field Director at People For the American Way.

“James O’Keefe’s New Hampshire stunt disproved the very point he was trying to make. There are already rigorous state and federal laws in place that prevent and punish fraud at the polls – fraud like that allegedly committed by O’Keefe and his supporters. Attorney General Delaney and U.S. Attorney Kacavas should show the people of New Hampshire that they are serious about combatting voter fraud, and investigate O’Keefe and enforce the voter protection laws that are on the books,” Brooks said.

Thank you!

These criminals have violated NH, its citizens and, and the law - and must face real punishment.
This isn't their first attack on honesty - it should be their last.

Um actually according to an attorney...these folks broke no law whatsoever...they never actually casted one vote - just looked like they were going to...that does NOT a criminal make. So even though the leftists 3 groups brought the AG those many many signatures, it will all be for naught - b/c O'Keefe was just exposing corruption and not breaking any law. Sorry to dash your hopes though Jan. And Jan, you really should view the work of James O'Keefe and Project Veritas - excellent work!!! everything they uncover or expose are the actual people's own admissions or statements - so you saying he is attacking honesty - well I would say that you are not being honest yourself.

Justsayin....: It is against the law to request someone else's ballot. How would you feel if I went in and requested your ballot and then walked out without voting? What do you think they'll do when you come in for your ballot? The best way to deter this behavior is to severely prosecute anyone who does this.

They did violate NH wire tapping laws by video taping others without consent. O'keefe planned and arranged it which adds conspiricy too the mix.

So, there's no law against dead people voting; just don't film it and tell others what's going on. Sounds about right to me, but I believe in killing the messenger rather than the message, too.

Right on the money...the George Soros and Moveon leftists don't want to have their schemes uncovered and shined light upon...that's all this is...they have no case b/c the people working for O'Keefe never actually casted a vote, just pretended to...so you can't win a case on that, never happen - sorry lefties, you're signatures will be for naught.

Guess what? The Dems know there is only ONE way they can re-elect the annointed one ---> MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD! which is precisely why they want James O'Keefe stopped in his tracks, lest he uncovers numerous other cases of voter fraud - and I promise you, HE WILL!

Ummm... How is that theft. How is video footage theft? If it wasnt for "Right-Wing crazies", how would you ever know this stuff was going on? Sometimes we watch popular media programs depicting hero's as vigilantes. This guy used a camera, to expose the filth that has infiltrated our current system. How IGNORANT are you people to actually care more about "The American Way" than the unseating of corruption? Especially, if you attend any history class (That doesnt have a biased educator), you will notice that The American Way has been a brutal, and disgusting example of colonialism, genocide, rape, distrust, and war. Honestly. WHO CARES ABOUT THE PAST. DO GOOD THINGS IN THE FUTURE. STOP LETTING VIOLENCE CONTROL YOUR LIFE. THAT IS EVIL.

Chris, these are just leftist scare tactics...the people in the video didn't actually cast any votes so these Progressive wackos have absolutely no case whatsoever. And they KNOW this... but what they really want is James O'Keefe's efforts stalled for this upcoming election. Massive voter fraud exists and its how Al Franken got elected. My solution: Institute voter ID laws NATIONWIDE, however if you don't have an ID - NO PROBLEM - just place your index finger in that well of permanent purple ink so you are unable to vote numerous times - SO SIMPLE!!! if it worked for the Iraqis it can work here - maybe the UN would approve of that method too - afterall, we want free and fair elections don' t we??

Chris - it isn't going on - that's why these criminals had to film other criminals being paid to request ballots of dead people.

It is illegal to tape another's voice without their knowledge.
It is illegal to request a ballot under false pretenses.
They were caught.
They should be punished, just like we punish bank robbers - they are a detriment for society.

RIGHT ON GeoSmi....And what this petition of leftists is...is a scare tactic of the Left to try to ensure that O'Keefe doesn't uncover more voter fraud in numerous other states. We KNOW voter fraud exists, but the Dems just want it swept under the rug so they can RIG elections like in the Al Franken case...GO O'KEEFE GO!!!! I have the perfect solution... Institute VOTER ID laws nationwide, but if you do not have an ID, you can still vote...as long as you stick your index finger into that well of permanant purple ink right there...it will prevent you from voting numerous times and worked in Iraqi elections just fine... Lastly, if New Hampshire AG is smart he will dismiss this case and instead spend their resources on cleaning up their voter registration rolls so they don't look like fools!!

This is just a ploy to cast doubt on our election process and make it more difficult for people to vote. O'Keefe is already on probation for crimes he has committed in the past. It is now time for him to do jail time.

It is against the law to rob a bank. But banks can be robbed. If I take a toy gun into a bank to prove the point - even if I don't accept the money - I will be arrested and prosecuted. This stunt by O'Keefe and his buddies is no different and should not go unpunished.

Proving that conditions exist that might permit voter fraud IS NOT the same thing as proving that voter fraud exists. In fact, the only voter fraud proved to have existed is that committed by O'Keefe and his minions. And they weren't even successful at that. Proving what? That the current system in place is functioning correctly. The black guy won in 2008. Just get over it.

Ok So someone could find a dead persons name and ID themselves as that person and maybe cast a vot. I guess its possible but Widespread? I doubt it, No System is fool proof and mistakes are made by everybody. There are not enopugh of theses Voting dead people to make a difference SO, one needs to ask what is the real motivation for Mr Okeefe's abuse of other's privacy?
Let's try to find the fraud in hundreds or thousands of cases where it makes a difference. I am opposed to further restrictions.

Why not the simple solution of taking dead people off the voters roll instead of breaking the law to try to take away other's right to vote via ids. Locking these crooks up would do more than voter ID laws to prevent voter fraud. The risk of going to jail is a deterent to voter fraud. Make OKeefe an example to would be crooks. If you let him get away with fraud, it encourages fraud.

We owe a huge "thank you" to O'Keefe for showing the flaw in the NH voting system. It is not just dead people. Pick a name such as "Carol Robidoux" of 14 Fox Meadow Lane in Merrimack (www.switchboard.com). Be there at the polls when they open and walk in and ask if they have a Carol Robidoux on the ballot. The poll worker will thank you for voting and hand you the ballot. Go in and vote for the Republican. If the real Carol does not vote that day, the fraud goes undetected. if she does show up, the poll worker may accuse her of trying to vote twice and deny her from voting. Or, they could say there must have been some mistake, and let the real Carol vote. Either way, the fraudulent vote can never be recovered.

Yes the system is flawed, but that DOES NOT justify breaking the Law to prove it.

The Police are not allowed to break the law to get evidence of fraud or wrong doing and neither is Jame O'Keefe.

In my area, a new Registered Voter Log Book is prepared for each election with a copy of the signature on your original voter registration card next to your name in the Log Book

When you show up took vote, the Log Book is presented to you, with the copy of your oringinal signature in the book covered up.

After you sign underneath it, the new signature is compared to the original one in the Log Book.

Justsayin, I believe your attorney friend has not read up on this case, I read that impersonating someone at a polling place is the crime in question, not casting votes. By the way, ACORN never cast votes either, they simply filled out registration cards. Does your lawyer pal feel that ACORN did nothing wrong? I bet s/he has two different standards for the two different parties. Perhaps your lawyer friend can help O'Keefe defend himself from the Republican blogger who said she was drugged in his company and had her panties stolen after he tried to tell her to flop out in his NJ barn.

Isnt it ironic that lunatics like OKeefe and Breitbart claim to oppose what they call "big government", when their whole method has always been to falsely malign private citizens by covertly recording them, and falsifying their encounters in a dishonest and slanderous public forum?

And all of this in lock step with the agenda of the very dishonest, power-hungry and irresponsible Moloch that the GOP has become?

Thats pretty freakin' Orwellian there... as is encouraging a movement of citizens to spy on their neighbors, send the data to Project Veritas, or BigGovernment.com, and have them mush it up into some horsepuckey narrative whose sole purpose is to realize (in the most dishonest terms) the GOP agenda.

Its nothing short of archetypically Big-Brother... to the letter.

But now, OKeefe and his band of mendacious hypocritical fanatics want to restrict the voting polls... again, in lockstep with the party he serves.

How is that NOT "big government?"

BTW, does anyone on the Right question the NON DISCLOSURE agreements that litter OKeefe's history?

ANyone care to answer why he had his political sugar daddies pay off such a HUGE settlement to Izzy Santa, complete with a binding NON DISCLOSURE agreement?

What ever happened to transparency and "veritas"?

What's he hiding?

Covertly recording Private Citizens (eg, special ed teacher Alisha Ploshnik, Juan CArlos Vera, KAtherine Conway Russle, etc...) for an underhanded political agenda is bad enough.

But falsifying that data to not only malign and endanger those citizens with the most horrendous charges, but to do so in the spirit of actualizing the agenda of an active political party is definitively Big Brother...

why do conservatives, who pretend to hate "big government", support O'keefe so blindly, and in complete violation of what they pretend to stand for?

As for demagoguery, where'd you see that in the story? Didn't the Nashua Police charge a homeowner for video taping a conversation between the homeowner and a Nashua Police Detective in the homowner's driveway or sidewalk a few years back??

Didn't the AG or Court drop the charges against the homeowner likening the chrage to jaywalking or ripping the tag off the mattress?

Methinks if there was a substantial charge that would hold up in Court against O'Keefe it would of been brought forth by now by the AG.

I also think I heard, but can't provide any more info with researching it, O'Keefe just got ballots from dead Vermont voters in a similar expose`??
