A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge granted actress Alyson Hannigan a temporary restraining order against a Nashua "mental patient" on Feb. 13 who has made online threats to rape and kill her and her family, according to various media reports.

Hannigan says John Hobbs, 43, of Nashua, has repeatedly threatened her and her family in online postings, according to ABCNews.

Hobbs is temporarily ordered to stay away from the "How I Met Your Mother" TV-sitcom star and her family, and refrain from posting messages about her online.

TMZ Online reports threats by Hobbs have been posted on Facebook, MySpace, and Hannigan's website, and that Hobbs is "mentally unstable and was recently discharged from a mental hospital," according to the court order.

In the restraining order, Hannigan said Hobbs had over the past two months "posted a barrage of threatening messages directed at me and my family on various websites," suggested he will rape her and take her to the "after-life." 

Hobbs' Facebook page, which is public, is filled with a continuing monologue of daily comments directed at Hannigan, and photos of the actress posted by Hobbs.

A Feb. 1 post reads:

"Alyson, if you want to call it quits for real, well between you and me. Talk in person, finish a dance, and exchange a few gifts. Otherwise, say hello to immortatity for me. Cause I'll see you 'UP' there."

And a Feb. 3 post talks about going to the casinos, and "going out west soon, too."

Hannigan appeared in the film series, "American Pie," and starred in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series as Willow Rosenberg. She said she and Hobbs have never met.

Nashua Police Lt. Michael Moushegian said Thursday that Nashua Police are not actively involved in this case.
