Mass. Motorcyclist Killed in Everett Turnpike Crash

State Police are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.

UPDATE: 12:50 a.m. Stewart Triehy, 23, of Pepperell, Mass., was killed in a motorcycle crash late Saturday night on the Everett Turnpike.

State Police responded to a reported crash at about 8:15 p.m. May 12. They arrived to find Triehy, who been thrown from his motorcycle, dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates Triehy was traveling south on the turnpike and exited at Exit 2. He failed to negotiate the left curve of the ramp and went off the right side of the road. Police said Triehy traveled along the embankment until striking the rock sideslope. He was thrown from his bike.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Nashua Police and Fire departments and the NH Department of Transportation. The off ramp was closed for approximately one hour while the investigation continued. The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Brian Viglione. UPDATE: 12 a.m. - A motorcylist  was killed in a crash after apparently losing control exiting the Everett Turnpike at Exit 2 southbound.

Nashua Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Kerrigan said the motorcyclist was dead at the scene when Nashua first responders arrived.

"We really weren't there too long. There were several motorcycles there, maybe three, but only one that went down, and there didn't appear to another vehicle involved," Kerrigan said.

He said following protocol, State Police took over the scene once it was known that the motorcyclist was fatally injured in the crash.

Traffic was shut down at the ramp for about 90 minutes while the scene was cleared by police.

No other information was immediately available. Kerrigan said State Police would be releasing more information following their investigation.

UPDATE: 10:55 p.m. Hearing now from several people that the ramp is open to traffic, including the NH DOT on Twitter.

UPDATE: State Police from Troop B confirmed the Exit ramp remains closed as of 10:30 p.m.

Original story begins here: [9:30 p.m.] Emergency dispatchers are reporting an accident at Exit 2 on the Everett Turnpike southbound.

Initial reports included information that a motorcycle was involved in the crash, which happened at about 8:30 p.m.

The Department of Transportation reported the Exit 2 off ramp was closed as of about 8:45 p.m.

State Police continue to investigate the scene.
