Police said on July 27 at about 11 a.m. police were called to a downtown residence after someone noticed a dark-colored car at a neighbor's home that didn't belong there. Police investigated the incident and determined that a burglary had occurred at the neighbor’s address. Patrol officers later stopped a vehicle which matched the burglary suspect vehicle, which was registered to Jennifer Gagnon. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Gagnon’s passenger, Steven Potter had forced his way into the victim’s residence with the intention of committing a theft, but no property was reported missing from the home as it was believed that Potter allegedly fled before he was able to take anything.

Charges were filed against Gagnon after police learned that she had gone up to the residence that was burglarized and knocked on the door. When no one answered, Gagnon allegedly alerted Potter who then forced his way into the home.
