Pothole Patrol: Broad Street Crater

This tire eater appears to be caused by a leaky pipe.

Hey, we're no pothole expert, but there's a giant crater of a hole outside the abandoned 44 Broad Street, and I think it was preventable.

After watching traffic swerve around the hole and orange cone, meant to alert drivers to the hazard, I pulled over to investigate.

My degree is in professional writing, not engineering or building maintenance, but I followed the stream of water from the building to the hole, then doubled back to see a steady drip drip drip coming from a pipe on the exterior of the building.

It may not matter that much to anyone, what with the building being empty and the road slated for Broad Street Parkway construction, but I'd like to suggest someone turn off the water and fix the hole.

Do you have a pet pothole peeve? Snap a photo and send it in, or let me know where it is and I'll add it to the interactive Pothole Patrol map embedded here. Or even better, you can add it yourself.

Carol,

Just reported this to pothole @ 44 Broad Street to the City. It is in the system now and hopefully will be addressed in short order.

At the end of December I added a post to my site with regard to Potholes and how to report them...seems we've got a few more showing up with the snow and then melt. Here is a link to the my site with phone number and an online Citizen Service Request Form.

Hope this helps!

Drive safely!

Thanks, Mark. I, too, have promoted the Citizens Service Request Form here, but a little extra Patch Pressure can't hurt, right?
