Santorum Wraps Swing Through NH at Bonhoeffer's

Sen. Rick Santorum took some time to greet customers at Bonhoeffer's Cafe during a Nashua campaign stop.

Jim and Cheryl Hirni were looking forward to seeing Sen. Rick Santorum again.

They arrived at Bonhoeffer's Cafe a few minutes before Santorum, who was scheduled to wrap up a week-long campaign sweep of New Hampshire at the neighborhood coffee house.

"We have met before," Jim Hirni said. "We shared a cab, by chance, on the way to the Eagles/Patriots Super Bowl."

Hirni and his wife said they like Santorum because he's a "man of character," although they agree he hasn't gotten enough media attention.

"If you look at the remaining candidates, there are really only two left worth considering – Mitt and Rick. I like Mitt, and I've supported him in the past, but he's a moderate Republican, no matter what he says," Jim Hirni said.

"Rick is a true conservative, fiscally and socially, and he's stayed true to those principles. And he's got the most experience in foreign policy of any of the candidates," he said.

Both Hirni and his wife also like Santorum's dedication to family values.

"Rick says that if the family fails, the country fails. I like his consistency," Jim Hirni said.

Santorum, a devout Roman Catholic, is an outspoken critic of abortion and homosexuality. He and his wife have seven children, including 3-year-old Isabella, born with a serious genetic disorder.
