UPDATE 1 P.M.: Call is out for road treatment on the Everett Turnpike south of the tolls, after what has been several hours of constant calls for cars off the road, into guard rails and sliding across lanes of traffic.

UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: "Extensive extracation" efforts still ongoing 30 minutes later at an accident on the Everett Turnpike Exit 3 southbound off ramp. Driver trapped. Ramp is closed.

9:30 A.M. Londonderry Patch reporting a 40-mile backup after the Exit 4 ramp was closed this morning.

UPDATE: 9 a.m. - Interstate 93 southbound Exit 4 is closed, via scanner reports.

Emergency crews are responding to multiple crashes due to slick roads across the state.

In Nashua, the speed on the Everett Turnpike has been reduced to 45 mph as of 8:25 a.m.

Many residents were surprised that school was not delayed this morning, and road conditions are making for an awful commute, according to Rob Connell who just posted on Facebook that his normal half-hour commute from Goffstown to Nashua "has just hit 2 hours" and that he's still in north Merrimack on the Everett Turnpike.

And although school is on, the moms have spoken, via Facebook (see screenshot) saying the district got it wrong, and roads are too sloppy for buses to pass safely.

Emergency Management Director Justin Kates said it appears the snow came faster and harder than expected.

"I was just out there, and I agree, there's a lot of snow out there compared to what we expected.  They actually expanded the advisory all the way to Providence (Rhode Island) because of this system being more intense than we originally thought. We were expecting two inches total, but it looks like about two inches now, and counting," Kates said. 

Kates said according to weather maps the storm should be wrapping up by 10 a.m. in Nashua.

As of 8:45 a.m. we had not heard back from the street department as to whether plows were out on the roads.

Commuter rundown:

Nashua Police say roads are "poor" this morning, but as of 8 a.m., no accidents to report.

• Between 7 and 7:15 a.m. there were three accidents reported on the Seacoast, on Elwyn Road in Portsmouth;  Portsmouth Avenue in Greenland; and a 2-car accident with injury and entrapment was reported on Washington Street in Rochester.

• An accident on Interstate 93 north in Concord between exits 12 and 13 just after 7 a.m. Around 6:30 a.m., a rollover crash was reported on Interstate 93 north in Salem, just prior to exit 2.

• A four-car accident around 7:30 a.m. on I-93 N in Windham.

• Accidents have also been reported on Interstate 293 south in Bedford, Route 13 in Brookline, Route 4 in Northwood, Route 4 in Epsom, Route 28 in Auburn, Route 28 in Alton, Dracut Road in Hudson, and Route 101 in Wilton

Police are advising motorists to use caution on the roads, as the heavy, wet snow has caused very hazardous road conditions, especially at hills and intersections.
