Spotlight On: Positive Street Art

Brand new initiative to change the way communities think about urban street art.

Manny Ramirez and Cecilia Ulibarri got together and decided they would like to make a difference in the Nashua community by launching Positive Street Art.

They are teaching two art classes at the Boys and Girls Club with the goal of creating opportunities for kids to channel their creativity. And although there isn't a lot of graffiti in Nashua at this time, their goal is to be the go-to organization that cleans up buildings which have been tagged. Another goal is to set-up temporary art boxes around Nashua to brighten up the city.

The group held its first workshop on January 25 at the Boys & Girls Club of Nashua, with more than 30 members between th ages of 8 and 18 in attendance.

The Boys & Girls Club of Nashua hasn't had a formal arts program in place (due to lack of funding), so they were grateful to see volunteers stepping up to the plate.

Volunteers Tom Lopez and Leah Kovitch joined Ramirez and Ulibarri with the workshop.
