Trail Day at Mine Falls, Public Works Week and Greek Fest

A Saturday trifecta of community engagement. Work up an appetite and then celebrate the city we love.

NASHUA - Saturday, May 18 looks is a busy day, and the Mine Falls Park Advisory Committee has just the way to help Nashua area citizens start the day off by working up an appetite for the St. Philip Greek Food Festival and the Public Works Week Celebration at Stellos Stadium

The committee's May Trail Day clean-up begins with registration at 9 a.m. at the Lincoln Park entrance and continues with assorted projects in the park until noon. All volunteers will receive a free T-shirt. Committee member Dick Gillespie will head up the continuing restoration of the Red Trail while other projects will be addressed according to the number of volunteers attending. And according to committee chairman Greg Andruskevich, the award winning 1886 Gatehouse, which supplied water to power the mills in the Millyard, will be open for tours from 9:15 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The city, Mayor Donnalee Lozeau, the Division of Public Works, Park Recreation Dept., and Mine Falls Advisory Committee invite residents to visit the restored Gatehouse on Saturday, May 18. Those visiting the Gatehouse will be able to see the mechanics that brought power to the textile mills downtown. One need not have to volunteer for the Trail Day in order to tour the award-winning Gatehouse. Pam Anderson, Joshua Segal, Mark Soucy and Andruskevich  will also assist in conducting tours of the Gatehouse.
