Ba-Rock and Roll

This is class warfare. It is always “about the Benjamins.”
In the United States, we do not often battle with guns and tear gas to control
the masses. The battle utilizes the Internet and the television. Investors like
Warren Buffet stand up to pay their fair share of taxes, while believers in
trickle-down economics listen to the ways of Bain Capital.

Debate #1 was tough to watch. Barack seemed disappointed to have to be on the same stage with Richie Rich.

Debate #2 was more of a slugfest of facts versus sales pitches. It was not a total slam dunk for the president because the governor knows how to shovel it (he must still have the shovel from the Big Dig). Romney has always been extremely far behind in the Massachusetts polls, because few people in Mass were impressed with him.

At the third debate, Romney sweated when caught between Barack and a hard place. He cannot even see Russia from his yacht. After seeing all the countries flags at the Olympics opening ceremony, the chameleon did not appear worldly, because he is only self-centered upon the wealthy. “We have these things called aircraft carriers.” Romney was hopefully cornered and dismantled by the capabilities of someone who cares.

"Richie Rich" - nice, partisan namecalling does add so much to the political discussion.,...

"Richie Rich" is light-hearted, especially compared to Ann Coulter or Tagg's comments.

Someone else used worse terms in name-calling is a rather childish justification.

"Investors like Warren Buffet stand up to pay their fair share of taxes"

So how many who are willing to pay more have actually stood up and done it ? Did the president willingly pay more, or did he max out his deductions ?

In one of his tax return, Obama took a foreign tax credit to reduce the amount he would have paid.

Seamus- Maturity is a good goal.
Billnh- That would be standing up to a higher level. I am pretty sure that they just had an accountant max the deductions like we do. My point about the money is more about this kind of 1% stuff....
"Mitt also wants to make income from investments and dividends tax free. Guess what, Mitt's multimillion dollar income comes from investments and dividends so he won't be in the 15% tax bracket he is in today, he will be in the 0% bracket and join the 47% who don't pay income taxes. So will all his financial backers at Bain Capital and other hedge funds. If that happens who will be stuck with the bill? You will."

"Maturity is a good goal". Well. at least you know what you are striving for... Start with eliminating the namecalling and focusing on the issues. Good luck.

Okay. There is nothing wrong with foreign tax credits, it just keeps you from getting taxed twice. Obama took deductions for $22,215 for book sales abroad. In 2010 Romney took deductions for $130,000, and $102,790 in 2011 on foreign investments.

Hypocrite = "Guys like me should pay more taxes", and then he chooses to take deductions.

Bill, can't see any difference?

President Obama's book sells abroad and the deductions are taken.
Gov. Romney moves his money to foreign countries to avoid America's needs.

See it more clearly now?

I was not condoning Romney's tax evasion. Mr Brown's letter talks about those who WANT to pay more.

I called the president a hypocrite because he supposedly WANTS to pay more taxes, yet when given the opportunity to pay more, he pays LESS by using deductions. Why ?

You're kidding, right Bill? Humor? Because tho we disagree on many things, you don't appear to be stupid.

Our tax rules are rife with deals for those with lots of resources, many that Romney has used are called "abusive" by the IRS. It's time to address this. It's also time to drop Bush's tax cuts for those who are just sitting on their money instead of investing in America. The cuts were meant to put more money back into the economic engine... Instead you and I used ours.. And the super rich sent theirs to tax havens.

This is what economists are telling us, this is what our President is telling us...

You are changing the subject Jan. I agree that the tax code is unfair and some have abused it.

But that's not what Mr Brown wrote about, is it ? He specifically championed Warren Buffet and his like who are begging to pay more taxes, yet when they have opportunity to do so, they don't. That's what I commented on. Hypocrisy is not humorous to me.

Buffet doesn't want to pay more while others at his level continue to game the system.
He and others want to return to a more fair system.

"tax evasion"? Romney did not commit tax evasion. That is illegal and he would be arrested. "Tax avoidance" is legal and is done by everyone that takes any deductions.

As for rich people paying more, we have fine examples of rich people just to the south of NH saying one thing and doing another. In MA, one can pay at the original rate of 5.85% or the newer rate of 5.3%. John Kerry (D-MA) paid the 5.3%. Elizabeth Warren (Democrat candidate) paid 5.3%. Overall, 99.96% of MA taxpayers pay the lower rate.

Even though most people will not pay their "fair share" unless it becomes law, I still support the wealthy that want to make it the law.
