Lighted Crosswalk: That's an (Un)Wrap!

After months of construction and fine-tuning, the new lighted cross-walk is electrified.

Thursday was kind of like Christmas for those who have been overseeing the completion of the city's state-of-the-art lighted crosswalk.

We spotted some action and stopped by just in time to see the cross walk light up for the first time.

Using scissors, Public Works Director Lisa Fauteau and Mayor Donnalee Lozeau led the charge, removing the plastic wrap from the wrought iron gates at the center of the Main Street crosswalk.

Then, the first official test of the lights went off without a hitch, which should add a layer of safety to those who choose to cross Main Street at the bridge, where there is no traffic signal.

If you are out and about after dark, swing by and take a look.
