Orangetheory Fitness set to open on Amherst Street in Nashua

Orangetheory Fitness, the energizing, heart rate-monitored fitness concept sweeping the nation, will open at 345 Amherst Street in Nashua. Different from traditional gym workouts, Orangetheory Fitness offers 60-minute sessions broken into segments of cardiovascular, power, and strength training. The high-intensity interval training is the number one fitness trend of 2014, as ranked by the American College of Sports Medicine.

The greater Nashua location at Exit 7, opening in August, will be the first in northern New England.

“Orangetheory provides adults of all ages and abilities a unique way to improve their health and fitness levels.” said Dwayne Duprey, owner of Orangetheory Fitness in New Hampshire. “It is group personal training that motivates everyone who participates, and gets results!”

During classes, everyone wears heart-rate-monitors to make sure they reach and stay in their targeted heart rate zone. The interval training and short bursts of exercise are designed to maximize the “Orange Effect,” which adds extra caloric burn for up to 36 hours after the workout. The workouts use treadmills, rowing machines, suspension training and free weights.

With traditional workouts, people often hit a plateau after repetitive routines. That won’t happen at Orangetheory Fitness.

“The workouts change every day, so it’s always a new experience," said Duprey. “Our workouts are focused on individual fitness and endurance for maximum results and health.”

There are more than 300 Orangetheory Fitness facilities across the country, mostly in Florida, where the company began and quickly grew in popularity.

“Orangetheory Fitness is about to find out why Nashua is a great place to do businesses and thrive,” said Tom Galligani, the city’s economic development director. “We are pleased to welcome this new company to our health and wellness community.”

About Orangetheory Fitness

The concept of heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by skilled instructors, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, SBT Suspension Training and free weights, burning an average of 900 calories per class.
