Obamacare Enrollment Deadline March 31

The Affordable Care Act's marketplace reports a flurry of last-minute enrollees.

The federal healthcare marketplace is busy today, March 31, which is the open enrollment deadline for the Affordable Care Act, aka "Obamacare."

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Covering New Hampshire, a group dedicated to helping people sign up, are expecting a last-minute rush of Americans seeking insurance. To that end, the administration has said anyone who has started the enrollment process by March 31 has until April 15 to officially enroll.

In New Hampshire, 21,578 individuals selected a marketplace plan through February. Nationwide, there are more than 6 million people enrolled, according to Healthcare.gov.

The Affordable Care Act remains a hot topic in New Hampshire, and it looks to be the campaign issue in the 2014 elections.
