NH Democrats should support the small business (beer) community

We need the Democratic Party controlled New Hampshire House and Governor Hassan to get in the game to further support the growing craft beer community. We know that Governor Hassan is big supporter of the New Hampshire craft beer businesses. Many of her Democratic Party colleagues are supporters as well. We need their support now.

There are several bills pending right now that could help nano-brewers and retailers of craft beer compete on a level playing field with establishments in neighboring states and with the national corporate brands. One bill would remove a dinosaur requirement that beer retailers have to stock regular groceries in their stores. That needs to get a vote in the full house and the Democrats need to pass it. Another law would change labeling requirements so the best beers could be available for purchase.

Why are we behind Massachusetts and Vermont as beer destination states? It makes no sense. Why is it only Libertarians that have been out front on these common sense reforms?

Please Governor Hassan and Democrats in the House, take a closer look at the pending beer legislation. Passing these laws will be good for consumers and be good for the New Hampshire economy.

Watch my show with lobbyist Kevin Bloom on which we discuss the merits of some of these bills.
