Margarita Pervanas, 70: Was Active Member of St. Philip Church

Margarita (Prevenas) Pervanas, 70, of Nashua passed away peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, surrounded by her family after a sudden illness.

Margarita was born in Filisi, Lakonias, Greece, on Jan. 16, 1943, a daughter of the late George and Panagiota (Arapantone) Prevenas. She was the beloved wife of Vasilios Pervanas of Nashua.

Margarita had recently visited family and friends in Filisi, Lakonias, Greece, this past August. She had a passion for cooking and baking, and she loved to prepare her favorite Greek dishes for her whole family. Her pita, baklava and pasticcio were legendary and enjoyed by many at all family gatherings. Margarita had been employed at Fashion Neckwear in Hudson as a seamstress; later she was employed at BAE/Sanders in Nashua and she also worked at Benchmark Electronics until her retirement in 2005. She was a parishioner of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Agape Ladies Society where she enjoyed volunteering and helping out with the annual Greek festival.

Besides her husband of 52 years, Margarita is survived by one son, George Pervanas and his wife, Helen, of Bedford; one daughter, Maria Stebbins and her husband, Michael, of Nashua; four grandchildren, Kristina Pervanas, Alexa Pervanas, Nicholas Stebbins and Ashley Stebbins; two sisters, her twin sister, Eleftheria Kokkonos and her husband, Vangelis, of Grammousa, Greece, and Voula Nikolakakos and her husband, Nick, of Florence, S.C.; one brother, Lekouragos Prevenas and his wife, Maria, of Filisi, Greece; two brothers-in-law, Evangelos Pervanas and his wife, Brenda, of Hooksett, and Konstandinos Pervanas and his wife, Anna, of Athens, Greece; two sisters-in-law, Olympia Prompromis and her husband, Demetrios, of Sydney, Australia, and Martha Pervanas of Athens, Greece; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 24, from 3 to 7 p.m.; Trisagion service to be held at 5 p.m. in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 25, in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, 03062.
