Shameful Attacks

Recently it has been reported by this site and others that NH Democrats were attacking Rep Al Baldasaro and his new bride Judy on the internet, mocking wedding photos and personally insulting the womanhood of Judy Baldasaro.   Comments by Rep Peter Sullivan (D-Manchester), former Rep Eileen Ehlers (D-Hooksett) and other notable NH Democrats indicated a level of ignorance, self-righteousness, and hypocrisy that is both staggering and shameful.   To these people, apparently, everything is political, and personal attacks on family members are not out of bounds, so long as they are attacking conservative Republicans.  This isn't the first time Democrats have attacked Al's family, but it is certainly the most disgusting yet.   Did they know that Judy Baldasaro freely chose, exercising her rights as a strong, independent woman to marry Al?  Did they know that prior to marrying Al, Judy was a divorced single mother who worked very hard supporting three children on her own?  Silly me, I thought these Democrats were supposed to be supportive of a woman's right to choose, but apparently that right should only apply to women who think the way they do.   I have known Judy for many years and she is among the kindest, generous and most loving people I have ever known and she does not deserve this.   Let's be honest here.  This isn't about Judy.  This isn't about a wedding.  This is about these people who detest Al because they have worked so hard to try to get rid of him, failing to do so year after year (he's consistently the top vote getter in his district, and rightfully so). These people are attempting to fill the void of their failures and hate by satisfying a basic personal psychological impulse to make them feel better about themselves by mocking somoeone they hate.  Not because Rep. Baldasaro has ever actually done anything wrong, but because he is a vocal, outspoken Conservative who stands up for the people of his district, and never backs away from the truth, and always lets you know where he stands.   They know they can't win at the ballot box, or in an honest debate with facts and ideas, so they attack him and his family personally. They bring shame to themselves and their party.   Among Rep Sullivan's offending remarks, he suggested that Rep Baldasaro (et al) should consult a famous dead psychologist.  I don't think it is Rep Baldasaro or his family that is in need of mental health assistance.   I call upon Speaker Norelli, who is an honorable woman and a personal friend, to condemn these Representatives and their shameful remarks, and ask them to apologize publicly.  Speaker Norelli has cultivated an environment of civility and mutual respect in the House, and these kinds of attacks and comments have no place among professionals and luminaries of either party.     Sincerely,   Rep. Daniel J. Tamburello, Londonderry
