Armed Robber Hits CVS for Rx Drugs

Police are searching for a suspect in Monday morning armed robbery.

Police are searching for a masked man who robbed the CVS on Main Street Monday morning.

"Right now they are dusting for fingerprints," said Lt. Michael Moushegian, who provided the following information as to why the CVS on the corner of Main and West Hollis streets was swarming with police cars Monday morning.

As of noon police were still on scene and the store was still closed to customers.

At approximately 5:47 a.m. there was a reported robbery at the CVS by a masked man with a gun who demanded "controlled drugs" from the pharmacy.

The gunman left the pharmacy with a "quantity of drugs." Police are currently following leads, but released no description of the gunman other than that he was wearing a mask.

Police cars lined the perimeter of the parking lot early Monday morning and used crime tape to block the entrance to the normally busy drug store.

Customers were evacuated during the most active part of the police investigation. No injuries were reported, Moushegian said.

Stacie Laughton, who manages an apartment building directly across the street from the CVS, said a detective stopped by several businesses along Main Street seeking video camera footage.

"The store manager said they will be open again for business later on today," Laughton said.
