An earlier story follows:

Nashua Police are looking for three suspects possibly armed with rifles who reportedly assaulted another person in an apartment on Manchester Street.

"It's still a very active situation," Nashua Police Lt. Mike Moushegian said. "There is police activity in the area. We received a report of people armed with firearms in the area."

Police received a report around 2:15 p.m. that three men with guns had possibly assaulted someone on Manchester Street. Witnesses indicated that at least one of the men had fled the scene and might still be in possession of a firearm. This subject was observed jumping fences and fleeing the area toward Concord Street.

Mt. Pleasant Elementary School on Manchester Street was locked down due to the police activity in the area. School Superintendent Mark Conrad said the school district also held two buses of students from Pennichuck Middle School who would have been delivered to that area. Charlotte Avenue Elementary School students were kept indoors and students in the after-school program at Amherst Street Elementary School, which had dismissed, were also kept indoors. A parent reports that St. Christopher School was also in lockdown.

Moushegian advised residents in the area to stay in their homes. A SWAT team has reportedly been called to the scene and some streets in the area are being shut down.
