Duo Arrested for Kidnapping, Robbery at Gun Point

Nashua police say men displayed firearm and used a taser on the victim.

Nashua police have arrested two people and charged them with kidnapping and robbery for allegedly breaking into an Arlington Street home, assaulting a ma and forcing the victim to leave the apartment with them.

This occurred at 2 a.m. Aug. 9, and police arrested the two people about four hours later. They were identified as:

  • George Lopez, 25, of 2 Manocrest Drive, Nashua.
  • Richard Smith, 28, of 72 Manchester St., Nashua.

They were both charged with kidnapping and robbery, Class A felonies. Lopez was also charged with a class A burglary.

The three men knew each other, police said. The incident was the result of a dispute between Lopez and the victim, who suffered minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

The two forced the victim to drive them to 61 Burke St., where they were later found. During the alleged kidnapping, the two men used physical force, displayed a firearm and used a taser on the victim, police said.

At some point, the victim managed to escape, according to police.

Lopez and Smith are being held on bail pending arraignment today, Aug. 10, in the 9th Circuit Nashua District Court.

Lopez bail was set at $75,000 cash or surety. Smith's bail was set at $50,000.
