If you see smoke in the area of 465 Amherst St. over the next few days, don't panic. There are plenty of firefighters on the scene, many of them getting a chance to sharpen their firefighting skills with some on-the-job training.
Live fire training will be conducted Jan. 29-31 at the property by way of a series of small indoor fires. On Jan. 31, training will conclude with a small controlled outdoor structure fire.
The property owner has arranged to have the structures demolished after the training concludes on Jan. 31, according to Nashua Fire Capt. Rick Conway of the city's Fire/Safety Division.
Signs will be posted along Amherst Street to inform residents and passing motorists, and smoke will be monitored in the neighborhood, according to Nashua Fire Department.
Editor's Note: An earlier version of this story included an error about the ownership of the property. Thanks to Alderman David Deane for that correction.
