Man Charged with Alleged Rape of a Minor

Wayne Smith Jr. is also charged with harassing an ex-romantic partner via repeated texts and phone calls.

On September 12, 2013 members of the Nashua Police Department Youth Services Division arrested Wayne Smith Jr., 33, of Nashua. Wayne Smith Jr. was charged with three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault, all class A felonies; and two counts of domestic violence: harassment, both class A misdemeanors.

On August 1 police received a report that Smith Jr. had been harassing a former romantic partner through repeated and unwanted text messages and phone calls. Following this report an additional complaint was made on August 6, 2013 alleging that Smith Jr. had sexually assaulted a juvenile female who is known to him. These reports were investigated by the Nashua Police Department’s Youth Services Division and Domestic Violence Unit.

Their subsequent investigation revealed that Wayne Smith Jr. was the person responsible for the harassment and sexual assaults.

Nashua Police Lt. Francis Sullivan said he could not elaborate further on the relationships between Smith Jr. and the two alleged victims.

Each Class A Felony is punishable by 7 to 15 years in State Prison, exclusive of fines, and each Class A Misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections, exclusive of fines. Wayne Smith Jr. is being held at the Nashua Police Department pending his hearing arraignment on September 13, 2013.
