Man Injured by Machete After Breaking Into Apartment

Steven Twombley will be arraigned Tuesday on a burglary charge.

A Nashua man was arrested on a burglary charge on Monday after he allegedly broke into a local apartment.

At 2:19 a.m. Monday, members of the Nashua Police Department’s Uniform Division arrested Steven Twombley, 45, of 47 Temple St. R32, Nashua, for burglary, a Class A felony.

The incident began at 1:47 a.m. when police were dispatched to the third floor of 23 Temple St. for a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived, two men were engaged in a physical confrontation. Officers separated the men, one of whom was identified as Twombley.

Officers learned that Twombley had pushed the door open to the victim’s apartment. The victim, fearing for his safety, armed himself with a machete. During the course of the confrontation, Twombley cut his hand on the machete.

Before police arrived, the victim placed the machete on the bed in the apartment. Through the course of the investigation, it was confirmed that the victim had not swung the machete in the direction of Trombley but simply had it in his possession during the fight. Twombley received several stitches to close the wound.

Twombley is currently being held at the Nashua Police Department on $5,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court on Tuesday.
