Nashua Man Charged with Hitting, Choking Woman

Ilie Retezatu was ordered held on $50,000 cash bail.

A Nashua man was arrested Sunday morning on multiple domestic violence related charges.

Around 11:22 a.m. Sunday, members of the Nashua Police Department’s Uniform Division arrested Ilie Retezatu, 38, of 89 Lake St. and charged him with domestic violence: second degree assault, a Class B felony; two counts of domestic violence: simple assault, a Class A misdemeanor; and obstructing the report of a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.

Earlier, at approximately 10:40 a.m., police responded to a domestic complaint at a city residence and made contact with Retezatu and later with the adult female victim. The incident was further investigated by members of the Special Investigations Division.

Retezatu is charged with hitting and choking the female victim as well as with preventing her from calling the police for help. The victim received minor injuries during the incident.

A Class B felony is punishable by up to seven years imprisonment, exclusive of fines. Each Class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in jail.

Retezatu is being held on $50,000 cash bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit District Division Court on Monday.
