Police: Nashua Mom Left Son, 4, Alone in Motel Room

Police say the child was found inside a parked car with his mom, who was passed out.

Merrimack Police arrested Amanda Sandy, 24, of 130 East Hollis St., Apt.B, Nashua, on Sept. 29. She is charged with: endangering the welfare of a child, after police determined she left her 4-year-old alone in a hotel room.

Police responded to a local hotel to check on a subject passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot with a small child in the vehicle. Upon their arrival, they located the vehicle in question. Police identified the occupant of the vehicle as Amanda Sandy. After an investigation, it was discovered that Sandy had left her 4 year-old son in a hotel room unattended for several hours. Police arrested Sandy for endangering the welfare of a child.

She was transported to the Merrimack Police Department to be processed. Her two children were released to a family member. Sandy was held on $2,500 cash bail and transported to Valley Street Jail. She was to be  arraigned on the misdemeanor charge on September 30, 2013 in the 9th Circuit District Division Merrimack Court.

A misdemeanor is punishable by a year in jail and/or a $2,000 fine.
