Sex Offender Caught With Child Porn on Cell Phone

Police said Scott Colby also failed to inform police of his whereabouts.

A sex offender was arrested Thursday after police discovered child pornography on his cell phone.

Scott Colby, 40, was arrested Jan. 31 and charged with possession of child abuse sexual images and duty to inform.

The arrest stemmed after a tipster called police saying that Colby had child porn images on his cell phone. The matter was further investigated by the Nashua Police Department’s Youth Services Division and it was learned
Colby allegedly had several child sexual abuse images on his phone. In addition, it was uncovered that the defendant had not updated his information on his quarterly sexual offender registration.

According to the state sex offender registry, Colby was convicted in 1993 for four counts of child rape.

Possession of child sexual abuse images is a class A felony and duty to inform is a class B felony. Each class A felony is punishable by up to 15 years in NH state prison not including fines and a class B felony is punishable by up to 7 years in NH state prison not including fines. The defendant was held overnight pending arraignment at the 9th Circuit-District Division - Nashua Court on February 1, 2013 at 8:15 am. His bail was set at $30,000 cash.
