Two Face Felony Charges in Forgery Case

Nashua Police arrest Steven Potter of Hudson, Jillian Marcotte, after checks were allegedly stolen from a Tyngsborough business.

Two local residents are facing felony charges after being arrested in connection with a stolen checks case out of Massachusetts.

Steven Potter, 24, of River Road in Hudson, was arrested at 11:09 a.m. on July 21, and charged with forgery, a felony. 

Also arrested was Jillian Marcotte, 28, formerly of Nashua but now, with no fixed address. She was charged with a felony criminal liability for the conduct of another to forgery charge.

According to Nashua Police, back in May, investigators received information about a stolen checks incident at a business in Tyngsborough, MA, that were later cashed at a local bank in Nashua, reportedly without the business owner’s knowledge.

During the course of the investigation, detectives alleged that Potter was the person who cashed the stolen checks while Marcotte allegedly driving him to the bank with the knowledge that the checks were stolen, according to a report.

Potter was arrested and held on $10,000 cash bail pending an arraignment in 9th Circuit Nashua District Division Court and is facing up to seven years in prison as well as fines for the alleged crime.

Marcotte was arrested and released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and will be arraigned in court at a later date.

The pair, according to online reports, are known to police from previous incidents in the region for previous incidents. 

Potter was arrested in 2012 on a burglary charge in Nashua, according to a post on Patch. According to The Lowell Sun, he was also arrested in 2012 for simple assault and a warrant in Hudson. 

In May, according to a Patch post, Marcotte was charged with receiving stolen property, reportedly thousands of dollars worth of jewelry
