Nashua's annual Veterans Day parade will start at Holman Stadium at approximately 10:30 a.m. Friday, 11/11/11, and head toward downtown. Local Veterans groups, high school bands, and other community organizations are included in the procession.
As always, Main Street will be temporarily closed for the parade and traffic will be detoured to side streets.
According to Great American Downtown, the public is encouraged to gather on the sidewalks to enjoy the parade. Stands with limited seating will be set up at City Hall Plaza, where each group will be officially recognized.
There are also several downtown merchants celebrating Veterans Day in special ways ...
FREE haircuts for active military and veterans. Please bring ID. All who take advantage of this deal at Wilfred's will be offered a slice of pizza and soda on the house from Pearl Street Pizza as well, located across the street from the barbershop.
Amsterdam Bar & Lounge Salute Your Troops Weekend
– Friday night: Red, white and blue attire suggested, Music by DJ Spivak and hosted by Josh Porter.
– Saturday night: Camouflage attire suggested. Music by Deejay J Styles.
– Discounts for those with military ID's and people in uniform.
All Veterans get free admission to see any movie on Veterans Day. Veterans must present proper identification. Examples include: VA Card, VFW Card, American Legion Card, discharge papers, DD214 or other Veterans ID.
From 11/11-11/18 all Veterans and Active Duty Military are invited to enjoy a Joe's Original Burger on the house!
The Junkyard Veterans Eat Free, 4-8 p.m.
The Junkyard and Mystique Model and Talent Management of Nashua, NH want to honor our troops by feeding the veterans on November 11, 2011 and honoring them with a lingerie fashion show, with designs by local business owner Julia’s Boutique of Nashua. Free appetizers and sodas. Budweiser will be available for $1. Reservations are being taken, but not needed. Veterans will be honored with a brief ceremony during the event. Pre-registration on this part is very helpful.
