Dems Launch Scott Brown Attack Ad in NH

Republicans are calling the 30-second spot "dishonest."

UPDATE, 4:30 p.m.: Scott Brown, in an email distributed by the NHGOP, respondedWednesday afternoon to the attack ad Democrats are running against him in New Hampshire.

"Jeanne Shaheen and her liberal special interest allies in Washington are scared," Brown says in the email. "They're scared because they know that New Hampshire voters are fed up with her failed leadership and they're ready to replace her in 2014. But Washington politicians like Harry Reid won't let her go down without a fight. Shaheen has been a loyal foot soldier for her party leadership and an automatic vote for the failed Obama agenda."

Brown's email was similar to one sent out earlier in the day by NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn, saying that during her "unaccomplished term in the Senate," Shaheen "has voted with President Obama 95% of the time, cast the deciding vote for ObamaCare, and even voted against all of the grandfathering amendments offered to protect New Hampshire families' current healthcare plans."

Brown's email goes on to request donations to help the NHGOP defeat Shaheen.

An earlier story follows:

The Senate Majority PAC will begin airing a new anti-Scott Brown attack ad in New Hampshire on Wednesday.

The $150,000 ad buy will air over 10 days, mostly in the Manchester area, according to Politico.

Brown recently sold his Wrentham, Mass. home and moved full-time to his summer home in Rye. The former Massachusetts Senator has made more than a dozen New Hampshire appearances in recent months, fueling speculation that he is considering a run for Senate here.

Incumbent Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat, is running for re-election. Republicans Jim Rubens, Karen Testerman and Bob Smith have also announced their candidacies.

The 30-second TV ad, titled #Bqhatevwr in reference to Brown's infamous Tweet, mentions Brown's time as a Massachusetts Senator, saying he "delivered for Wall Street" and authored legislation helping "big banks make risky investments.

"Now he's shopping for a Senate seat in New Hampshire. Really?" the ad says. "That's good for Wall Street and great for Scott Brown, but it doesn't make sense for New Hampshire."

NHGOP Chairman Jennifer Horn issued a statement Wednesday calling the spot a "dishonest attack ad" for Shaheen by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. The Senate Majority PAC is run by former aides to Reid and other Democrats.

"Harry Reid is in full blown panic mode because he realizes that New Hampshire voters are ready to remove one of his most loyal and obedient foot soldiers from office in 2014," Horn said. "His dishonest ad for Jeanne Shaheen's flailing reelection campaign is political payback for her decision to cast the deciding vote for ObamaCare and for mindlessly voting with President Obama over 95 percent of the time.

"Despite concerns from her constituents, Jeanne Shaheen continues to vote in lockstep with her party's disastrous agenda because she is bought and paid for by politicians like Harry Reid who are funding her dishonest campaign," Horn added. "Granite Staters know that Shaheen is nothing but a phony, unaccomplished, pawn for her party leadership who lacks the independent leadership we expect from our elected officials."
