Kelly Ayotte Introduces 'Hire More Heroes Act'

The legislation would incentivize companies to hire more veterans by providing relief from the Obamacare employer mandate.

U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) is a co-sponsor of the "Hire More Heroes Act," legislation designed to incentivize companies to hire more veterans by providing small businesses with relief from the employer mandate in the Affordable Care Act.

The bill would allow employers to exempt employees who already have health care coverage through TRICARE or the VA from counting as a full-time employee under Obamacare’s employer mandate, according to Ayotte's office.

"It’s deeply concerning that our veterans, who have sacrificed so much to protect our country’s freedom, continue to face high unemployment and difficulty when looking for a job outside of the military," Ayotte said in a press release April 7. "This legislation will incentivize small businesses to hire veterans by exempting veterans from being counted towards the employer mandate’s 50 full time employee threshold."
