Nashua Announces Summer Recreation Bus Route

The recreation route bus pilot program will run July 7 to Aug. 22. The service is free for all school-aged children who register.

The city of Nashua will launch a summer recreation route bus service that will run from July 7 to Aug. 22.

The pilot program will stop at at popular sites in the city in a continuous loop from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The service is free for all school-aged children (6 to 18 years old) that register and the city will provide a bus monitor to ensure rider safety. A city trolley equipped with a bike rack will be used for the recreation route and
included in the loop are: Greeley Park, Nashua Police Athletic League (PAL), Lincoln Park, Foster’s Square, Nashua YMCA, Main Dunstable Fields, Nashua Public Library, Rotary Pool, Girls Inc., Centennial Pool, and the Boys and Girls Club with easy access to Mine Falls Park at several locations.

School-aged children enrolled in the program will be able to use their free summer bus pass to access all the city bus routes, in addition to this pilot summer recreation route. All city bus routes can be found on Nashua’s Department of Transportation website.

Students will need to be registered in order to receive a free bus pass. The registration process is simple and will require parents to sign a release form and provide an emergency contact. There are three locations in Nashua where parents can register their child. The Division of Public Health and Community Services (located at 18 Mulberry Street), the Transit Center (located at 30 Elm Street) and the Parks and Recreation Department (located at 100 Concord Street). An informational packet and pass will be provided at the time of registration.

"This bus service is a perfect opportunity for kids, families and individuals to stay active and enjoy some of the wonderful recreational activities the city has to offer," Mayor Donnalee Lozeau said in a press release.
