NH Senate Passes Gas Tax Increase

The state gas tax increase would be the first in nearly a quarter of a century.

The New Hampshire Senate voted 15-9 on March 27 to pass a bill that would increase the state's gasoline tax by about 4 cents per gallon.

The proposed increase would mark the first increase in the state gas tax in nearly a quarter of a century. It would rise from 18 cents to just over 22 cents, per gallon.

The bill adjusts the gas tax, aka the state's "road toll," to the consumer price index. It would raise about $33 million in fiscal year 2015.
