State Rep Accused of Running Down Resident Ducks at Crowne Plaza

There's no state law requiring a motorist to report hitting a wild animal, but Nashua Police are investigating the Dec. 23 incident.

Nashua Police are investigating a report that State Rep. David Campbell allegedly ran over several ducks outside the Crowne Plaza Hotel, killing at least six and injuring several others.

According to a story in the Nashua Telegraph the incident was brought to the newspaper's attention by James Murphy, a retired U.S. Marine officer visiting from Florida.

Murphy told the Telegraph that he had just scattered some cracker crumbs on the ground for the ducks, which reside outside the hotel, when he witnessed a BMW, allegedly driven by longtime State Rep. David Campbell, approach the birds and, without slowing down, run several of them over.

Murphy said he called police after confronting Campbell because he was struck by Campbell's "indifference." 

According to the story, Nashua Police are investigating the incident. State Fish and Game officers told the Telegraph that there is no state law requiring a motorist to repot hitting a wild animal.
