STORM CENTER: Winter Storm Hercules Muscles in On Nashua

Overnight snow has left several more inches of snow behind. If you haven't seen a city plow yet, here's the official Snow Line (603) 589-4795, set up to serve the citizens of Nashua with up to date details on the status of storm operations. Please call the line to receive information about ongoing activities as well as to leave a message regarding any problems that you’ve encountered due to the weather. Messages will be reviewed on the hour during the storm in order to troubleshoot any problems within the city.

In other news, a wind chill warning remains in effect until Jan 4 at 10 a.m. High temperature today is expected to be about 10 degrees, dropping to 11 below overnight. That means check your home heating fuel levels, wood and pellet supplies, throw on an extra sweater, and don't leave home without a warm hat, gloves and boots.
 
No school for Nashua public and Catholic school students. World Academy plans to open at 8:30 a.m. You can find out more about that here.

12:18 p.m. Gov. Maggie Hassan issued the following statement related to the storm.

11:40 a.m. City of Nashua has declared a snow emergency until 8 a.m. Jan. 3. Parking ban has been enacted, which means cars left unattended will be towed to the city landfill, and owners must pay $295 to get vehicles back. Free parking during parking bans available at the city parking garages. Read the complete press release issued by the Nashua Office of Emergency Management here.

11:30 a.m. The Nashua Public Library will close at 12 noon on Thursday, January 2, and reopen on Friday, January 3, at 12 noon.

Overdue fines will not be charged for material due today, but you can renew your materials online at www.nashualibrary.org (Click Manage My Account.)

Tonight's Exotic Destinations program, "Reaching Your Peak Potential ," about how Randy Pierce lost his eyesight and went on to climb the 4000-footers in the White Mountains, is rescheduled for Monday, January 6, at 7 p.m. No registration is necessary. 9:45 a.m.:
The (white) stuff of dreams many New Englanders live for is falling fast on Jan. 2. For those who aren't heading directly to the slopes, welcome to Nashua Patch Storm Center, where we will bring you information about road conditions, closings and more.

Hercules, so named by The Weather Channel, is the first storm of 2014. In round numbers, New Hampshire should see about 12 inches of snow.

What to expect
During the day on Thursday there will be some accumulation, though much of the snow will come Thursday night into Friday before the storm ends by Friday afternoon.

At this time, Pheasant Lane is open and operating under its regular business hours both today & tomorrow (1/2 & 1/3) which is 10 am - 9 pm. The City of Nashua has a dedicated Snow Line to get updates during winer storms and also to leave messages regarding any problems you encounter. Call (603) 589-4795. Messages will be reviewed on the hour during the storm in order to troubleshoot any problems within the city.
