Wind and Weather Cause Power Outages in Nashua

We're tracking outages due to wind storm.

As of 8 p.m. Public Service of New Hampshire confirmed 3,800 known outages in Nashua and Hudson.

The outage includes Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, which is currently running on generator power, said Nashua's Director of Emergency Management Justin Kates.

"They're OK over at the hospital, but I've been watching the numbers in Nashua, and they appear to be going up," said Kates, who was also without power.

PSNH spokesperson Elizabeth LaRocca said there were about 24,000 outages statewide as of 8:30 p.m.
"We're seeing significant outages around the state so we've opened our emergency operation center at our headquarters in Manchester so we can expedite crews," LaRocca said.
She said the winds were expected to continue to be a problem until about 11 p.m.

Resident Lisa Laughton reported no power at her Main Street residence and said CVS was also dark, and there were no street lights.

"Kinsley is out, too," Laughton wrote in a text message.

Twitters posts were chronicling some of the problem areas, including downed live wires reported on Bush Hills Road in Hudson, where Hudson Area Fire Alarm posted:  "Bush Hill Rd - Down lines - Hudson fire requesting PSNH urgently."

Another post from @nhtimmcgrawfan, detailing outage in the Tree Streets just before 8 p.m.:

@psnh need #watty in #nashua tree streets. Sounded like a transformer went somewhere near elm street school. #ListeningToRedSoxGameInMyCar

Earlier in the day the National Weather Service issued a wind advisory until 8 p.m. with high winds possible. A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast between 31 to 39 mph or gusts between 46 and 57 mph, which can cause downed trees and wires.

If you have an outage  LaRocca said it's important to report it to PSNH at 1-800-662-7764. Also, do not go near downed wires, but contact Nashua Fire at 594-3636 and also report them to PSNH.
