Mark Buckawicki asks if there's beauty in the Four Hills lanfill. I say there's gold in them thar hills - all the items being recycled will be sorted and the materials sold like commodities, which goes back into Nashua's economy. Bring them your tired, your poor, your broken down appliances, I say...

Da bears! Da owls. It's a wildlife week out there, folks. Thanks to Peter MacDonald for the bear shot and John Prestidge for the young owl.

I am a sucker for flowers, and trees, and especially flowering trees, so you know I could not let this shot of the flowering dogwood tree at Daniel Webster College go unphotographed.

I also love to see what moves you, so make sure you upload your photos here, anytime, and let me know. I'll feature your photo on Nashua Patch!

Thanks to Dave Motuzas for the great action shots contributed of a controlled burn at 836 W. Hollis on March 29. The property was purchased by the City, and the burn created a great training exercise for Nashua firefighters.

Grace Landry, an 8th grader at Elm Street Middle School, recently performed in the prestigious Irish Dancing World Championships in Boston with her team from Heavey Quinn Academy of Irish Dance. They got a recall for the first round - which means they place in the top 50 teams (out of 104 teams). On Thursday, Grace and her team danced in the U16 Girls Figure Choreography, a dance choreographed by her other teacher, Ronan McCormack, which tells a story called "Meet you at the Hall" which is based on the time when the first Irish immigrated to Boston and how they found one another in the dance halls of Boston.

Thanks to Michelle Partridge-Oro for sharing this cute pic of her girls – reminds me of me and my sister, Jean, two years older, and still my BFF. Also, the child on the left reminds me a LOT of Drew Barrymore from her "ET" days. Anyone else see that??

Thanks to Michael Gallagher for being quick with his camera. He captured a sight that's not been seen on the streets of Nashua in more than 100 years, or at least that would be the assumption when you see a man in cropped pants riding a penny-farthing down Old Coach Road.

I want to know more.

If you can help identify this rider, I'll send you some Patch Swag! -CR

Today's submission comes from Mary Ann Picard of the Salvation Army, who is asking for help in restocking their active food pantry. Writes Mary Ann:

"In May, we served 825 individuals.  Their orders consisted of a variety of non-perishables (pasta, rice, beans, tomato sauce, cereal, peanut butter, canned veggies, canned fruit, canned juices, etc.).  Running low at this time of year is a chronic problem.  Donors associate winter with needing food."

You can drop off donations at the office at 1 Montgomery Avenue, just off South Main Street, during regular business hours, or contact Mary Ann to find out more. She will answer all your questions.

Nothing like celebrating Nashua with a controlled burn. Oh well the hose jockeys need to train...good picture...

Dan, I thought about that too - but Pics & Clips is a standing feature, and while I guess 'celebrating' is maybe a little of an over statement for a controlled burn, it's also kind of cool that a demolition mission doubles as a training exercise. Celebrate good times!
