Paul, a possible 2016 Republican presidential contender, will speak at an NHGOP event in Concord on May 20.
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate, will be in Concord next month to headline a New Hampshire Republican State Committee fundraiser. The location for the May 20 NHGOP Liberty Dinner has not yet been announced, but NHGOP Chairwoman Jennifer Horn confirmed Wednesday that the event will be held in Concord. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is also scheduled to speak at the event. "We're very excited about it and we know this is going to be a great event that's going to appeal to the full spectrum of Republicans," Horn said in an interview with Concord Patch. "I thought that it was important that this first event send a clear message." Unless someone else visits between now and May …

NHGOP Chair Jennifer Horn was present for Gov. Hassan's one-liners at the annual Wild Irish Breakfast.
The annual Wild Irish Breakfast is an important fundraiser for the Plus Company, and has taken on a life of its own as an event where politicians have license to poke fun at one another – for the most part, in a light-hearted comedy-driven roast. On Friday, Gov. Maggie Hassan kicked it up a notch inside the Radisson Hotel ballroom, slipping in a couple of pointed barbs at New Hampshire Republican State Committee Chairwoman Jennifer Horn, who was in attendance. Between the niceties and obligatory jabs at Master of Ceremonies and event founder former Mayor Bernie Streeter, Hassan made a point of of bringing up the ongoing scrutiny she and her administration have been under of late by the state GOP, which has recently filed a number of right-…

UDPATED: Chairwoman responds to governor's chief-of-staff response in lottery director lobbying flap.
UPDATE, 9:41 a.m., March 15 The state Republican committee has now requested information from Charles McIntyre, the head of the New Hampshire Lottery. Here is the information requested by Jennifer Horn: On behalf of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, I formally request that you provide me with all records from the New Hampshire Lottery Commission regarding Governor Hassan’s ethically questionable, Executive Branch casino lobbying effort. This includes, but is not limited to, phone logs and any written or electronic correspondence that documents communication between the Lottery Commission, Governor Hassan’s office, and members of the legislature regarding gambling legislation. I am also interested in calendar information that …

GOP mocks Hassan for promoting storm name and NHDP rips Tweet from local Republican.
Who you callin' Nemo? High political winds were gusting before the nor'easter truly started whipping through New Hampshire on Feb. 8. And Twitter was the digital wind tunnel. NHPR posted a story about Gov. Maggie Hassan promoting the #NemoNH Twitter hash tag, a storm naming convention created by The Weather Channel. Hassan asked Patch and other media outlets to use the hash tag – though a few were already using it – to try to facilitate information about the storm. Patrick Hynes appraised the "Nemo" usage in the NH Journal under this headline, "Hassan duped by silly winter storm naming fad." And the latest Twitter-versy: NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley issued a statement about "NHGOP Hypocrisy – Twitter Edition." Buckley zeroed in on a Tweet …

Moderated by the GOP Chair, and honoring a Democratic governor, the equal opportunity event shines a light on serving all in need.
Those who attend the annual Salvation Army of Greater Nashua Groundhog Day Breakfast have come to expect a few things, like a consistently delicious meal, a well-choreographed flow so everyone gets to work on time, and a satisfying mix of politics and punditry, where feel-good community spirit meets fiscal stewardship. Friday's 13th such breakfast did not disappoint. Newly elected NH GOP Committee Chair Jennifer Horn, who has served as event emcee for three years, did not flinch as she introduced this year's Citizen of the Year, former Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat. Republican Mayor Donnalee Lozeau was caught on film breaking bread with Gov. Maggie Hassan, a Democrat, who was seated next to her. The function room at the Crowne Plaza was …

Newly elected NH GOP chair promises to take her party in a forward direction.
BEDFORD – Jennifer Horn's message was loud and clear. For the GOP to find success and regain a strong foothold in both the New Hampshire and national political arenas, Republicans must change their thinking and their tact. "We must put to rest forever the notion that the Republican party does not care, that we don't care about women, that we don't care about the elderly, that we don't care about children, that we don't care about the most vulnerable among us," said Horn. We must put to rest forever the notion that the Republican party is the party of old white guys. It is time to renew the GOP to the 'Great Opportunity Party.'" Horn, speaking to roughly 450 of the Granite State's most influential conservatives Saturday afternoon, promised …

Jennifer Horn elected chairman of the NH Republican Committee.
BEDFORD – The gesture, at the very least, proved Andrew Hemingway was willing to walk the talk. The race to become chairman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee has been hotly contested since Hemingway challenged former congressional candidate Jennifer Horn for the position in late November. Yet when the votes were tabulated at the conclusion of the state GOP's annual meeting Saturday afternoon at Bedford High School, and Horn had emerged victorious, Hemingway agreed to throw out all other votes in exchange for one, his. Hemingway stood at the microphone and cast an affirmative nod to his opponent, shook her hand and swiftly exited stage right. Horn thanked Hemingway and promised to work with he and other Granite State …
