State Rep Who Questioned Marathon Bomb Victim's Injuries Resigns

Stella Tremblay submitted her resignation Thursday, a day after she again questioned the bombings in an email.

State Rep. Stella Tremblay, R-Auburn, submitted her resignation on Thursday, according to WMUR's James Pindell.

Her resignation comes about two months after she came under fire for claiming that the Boston Marathon bombings were a "Black Ops 'terrorist' attack."

Days after her initial statement, Tremblay appeared on a nationally syndicated radio show where she also questioned the injuries sustained by bombing victim Jeff Bauman, who lost his legs in the blast.

According to WMUR, Tremblay sent an email to other House members on Wednesday where she once again questioned the bombings.

Tremblay represents Auburn, but when she was first elected she represented Londonderry as well. At a meeting last month, Londonderry Town Councilor Tom Dolan publicly called on Tremblay to resign, calling her comments "disgusting."

Jennifer Horn, chairwoman of the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, issued the following statement concerning Tremblay's resignation:

"The New Hampshire Republican State Committee made it clear that Representative Tremblay was unfit for public office. We are glad she has resigned."

The New Hampshire Democratic Party also issued a statement on Tremblay's resignation:

"Republican Representative Stella Tremblay was an embarrassment to her constituents and to the entire State of New Hampshire, her resignation was long past due. It is telling that while Rep. Tremblay has finally resigned there has yet to be any kind of condemnation from Senator Kelly Ayotte, Republican Majority Leader Jeb Bradley, or Republican Senate President Peter Bragdon for her vile and chilling comments. Under their leadership the New Hampshire Republican Party has become synonymous with radical Tea Party extremism, and there has been an epidemic of shockingly inappropriate behavior by New Hampshire Republicans."
