Applefest Recipe Throwdown: Bring it With Your Best Dish

Oct. 3 deadline for online recipe submissions.

Something new for this year's Salvation Army Applefest – an Applefest Recipe Throwdown. 

Applefest is Oct. 12, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sullivan Farm, 70 Coburn Ave., Nashua.

The Nashua Telegraph, an event sponsor, is calling all home cooks to submit your best apple-centric recipes online. Click here to register.

Up to 15 entries will be chosen in each of the following three categories:

  • Pies, cobblers and crisps.
  • Breads and muffins.
  • Outside the (pie) box: Anything but pie - something savory or off the beaten path? This is your category.

Prizes and trophies awarded to the top three winners in each category.

Judges: Former Mayor Bernie Streeter; Jeremy St. Hilaire, of Great Harvest Bread; WZID’s Mike Morin; David Quimby, CEC, FMP – certified executive chef, food-service management professional and president of the Professional Chefs of New Hampshire; Alderman-At-Large Mark Cookson; and Kathleen Palmer, food editor for the Telegraph.
