City Elections: See Who's Running for Office So Far

Sept. 6: It was a big finish at the City Clerk's office Friday, with a rush on candidates, but all were verified by the end of the work day, according to City Clerk Paul Bergeron. Lots of interesting races have emerged, most notably the crowded At-Large Alderman ballot, with six contenders after the addition of Paula Johnson on Friday. In fact, there are at least two candidates for each Aldermanic seat, and Wards 3 and 9 will have a new representative, since sitting Ward 3 Alderman Diane Sheehan and Ward 9 Alderman Dan Moriarty are among the At-Large candidates. We'll bring you more information on the candidates as soon as we can round them up!

Sept. 5: More candidates filing for various positions, including alderman in Wards 4 and 9, and one Aldermanic candidate has withdrawn in Ward 1. Friday Sept. 6 is the last day to file.

Sept. 4: One addition to the list, in Ward 7. Still no petitions from current Ward 1 Alderman Kathy Vitale and Ward 4 Alderman Art Craffey. But not to worry: We touched based with them Wednesday and both have been busy with work, but both also  assured us they're gathering signatures and ready to file. 

Sept. 3: One new name added to the list, for Ward 2 Selectmen. Also, Ward 3 Alderman candidate Paul Shea is still "pending," after some of his original petition signatures were disqualified. He's planning on resubmitting in the next couple of days.

Aug. 30: A few more names have been added to the list.

Aug. 29: Just two new names - one for Board of Public Works and one for Ward 5 Alderman.

We'll update the list every day until the close of the filing period.  You will see some candidates are now in a "Petitions verified" status, which means they have met the requirements necessary to have their names on the ballots.  Those candidates still in pending mean the city is either currently working on verifying their petitions or that the petitions they originally filed failed to meet the required amount.
