Nashua Conservation Commission: 1998 – 2003: Serving as member, clerk, and vice chair. Note: I think appointed positions are as important and demanding as elected positions. I suggest that the question be worded as “Previous public service experience”.

Personal info and interests outside of politics: Spending quality time with family, Road Cycling, Bump skiing – then knee surgery – then recreational skiing, auto restoration.

Should you be elected, how will you connect with your constituents to learn more about issues they care most about?

I have been closely following Nashua issues having served in City Hall for 16 years. Every meeting I hear from Nashua residents. I am a daily reader of the Telegraph, and intend on responding to phone calls & emails. If a Ward meeting would be beneficial, I would host occasional Ward meetings.

In your opinion, what are key issues affecting your Ward?

Public Schools – namely Bicentennial. Competency based education (good or bad?), Development of the Nashua Technology Park. Commuter Rail at the South End, speeding traffic on the collector roads.

Why are you running?

I’m proud to live in Nashua, and am compelled to donate time to its upward march. I was inspired to help when I completed by evening M.B.A. in 1998.

Why should voters choose you over your opponents (what uniquely qualifies you to represent the public)? I

don’t think I’m uniquely qualified. I’d like to think that a citizen does not have to be uniquely qualified to serve / volunteer; but that a sincere interest in public service is the core ingredient. I think I’m generally qualified by having served 16 years in City Hall. This demonstrates that I follow through on my commitments to public service.

Feel free to include a summary statement or platform below if there are any other particular points you would like to relay to voters.

I think it’s important for public servants to patiently listen to citizen’s concerns, and help crystallize the issues. It’s also important to clearly respond with my opinion. I think serving on the Zoning Board and Conservation Commission has refined my ability to serve in an Aldermanic position.
